Green turtle is one of the common sea turtles, according to scientists, the turtle has been around since 145-208 million years ago or contemporary with Dinosaur. Turtle has a pair of front legs which is useful as paddle feet, and was known as a skilled swimmer in the water. They always live in water but sometimes have to rise to the sea surface to breathing. Because turtles breathing with lungs.

Green turtle are plant eaters, but sometimes they eat some small sea animals. Turtles often in the seaweed to search of food and sometimes they are inside the algae. They spread in tropical regions near continental coasts and around islands and rare in the waters of the temperate zone.

Approximate age maturity of turtles between 20 – 50 years old, weight approximately 130 kg and between 80 cm – 1.5 meters in length. With the physical characteristics as follows, has a sulfur black or dark brown, eggshell inform with round eggs when viewed from the top of his head and relative small and blunt.

Not every year a female turtle will be laying, laying cycles vary between 2 – 8 years. At the time spawning season, starting with the migration of male and female turtles from place to eat to place to laying. They can travel thousands of miles distance to the beach, which may find their place in the first reveal. There is little knowledge about why they always find a beach where they were born, not close to the beach where they find food. The possible theory is they can detection of corner and structure of the earth magnets, may be with this they can find a beach where they lay.

Female turtles always approached the beach at night, with condition of the beach dark and quiet. Turtle walk to the beach using a front leg to find a place to store eggs. In determining the place for spawning, female turtles can dig a few holes before he decided that location suitable for spawning, this indirection is to deceive the enemy.

After finding a location for spawning, turtles will dig hole to put eggs. Turtle can issue as many as 150 more eggs in one spawning, after finished; turtle will close the hole of spawning again and go to the sea. Turtle in the know will not return to see their eggs.

Incubation period of sea turtle eggs about 1.5 – 2.5 months. The sex of the baby turtles can be determined based on the incubation temperature; if the low temperatures tend will produce a male baby turtle and the high temperature tend will produce a female baby turtle.

At the time of baby turtle’s hatch, it will tear the skin of the eggs with “egg tooth”, Egg-tooth is a hard skin formed in the spout mouth when the baby turtles were born and will become soft again when the turtle grow to adult.

Need a few days’ baby turtles to appear at the surface. They began to stop probe the surface when the temperature felt in the sand is high, this marks of the day, and began to dig again when the sand began to feel cold temperature, which marks the night. Once on surface to the beach, baby turtles will find the way to the beach with help of the light moon rebound in sea surface. This is instinct. They cannot distinguish between moon of light and the lamp. The principle is they will come to the light so they appear on the surface of the sand.

Not all the baby turtles survive in journey to the sea, they face many dangers to reach the sea. From about 150 eggs that hatch, may be only less than 20 turtle babies will survive to sea. Until the baby sea turtles reach the sea, they will swim continuously for 1 – 2 days and not return to the beach in time for at least 1 year.
